Who he was

Elihu, also referred to as Eliel, is mentioned in the genealogies of the Kohathite Levites as an ancestor of the prophet Samuel (1 Samuel 1:1; 1Ch.6.27,34). He was the son of Tohu (1 Samuel 1:1) or Toah (1 Chronicles 6:34) and the father of Jeroham, who was the father of Elkanah, Samuel's father. The variations in the names (Elihu, Eliel, and Eliab) may be due to scribal differences or alternative names for the same individual. The Bible does not provide any further information about Elihu's life or role as a Levite.
