Who he was

Hebron was a son of Kohath and a grandson of Levi. He is mentioned in the genealogies of the Levites in Exodus, Numbers, and 1 Chronicles. Hebron's brothers were Amram, Izhar, and Uzziel (Exodus 6:18; Numbers 3:19; 1Ch.6.2,18). His descendants were known as the Hebronites, who were assigned various duties in the service of the tabernacle and the temple (Numbers 3:27; 26.58; 1Ch.26.23,30,31). Some of the notable Hebronites included Jeriah, the chief of the Hebronites during the time of David (1 Chronicles 23:19; 26.31), and Hashabiah, a leader during the time of David (1 Chronicles 15:9).
