Who he was
Amram was a Levite, the son of Kohath and father of Moses, Aaron, and Miriam (Exo.6.18,20; Num.26.58,59; 1Ch.6.2,3; 23.12,13). He married his father's sister Jochebed (Exodus 6:20). Amram's family belonged to the Kohathite branch of Levites (Num.3.19,27; 1 Chronicles 6:18; 24.20; 26.23). As the father of Moses and Aaron, Amram played a significant role in the history of Israel, although little is recorded about his own life.
