Zechariah
Who he was
Zechariah was the head of the priestly family of Iddo during the time of Joiakim, the son of Jeshua, who served as high priest after the return from the Babylonian exile. He is mentioned in the list of priestly family heads during Joiakim's time. As the head of his family, Zechariah would have had a leadership role among the priests and been responsible for his family's service in the temple. This may be the same Zechariah mentioned as the grandfather of the prophet Zechariah (Zechariah 1:1), though this is not certain.
