Obadiah
עֹבַדְיָ֫הוּ · o.vad.yah · H5662I“servant of the Lord” Hitchcock's 18691 mention, all in 1 Chronicles
Who he was
Obadiah was one of the six sons of Azel, a descendant of King Saul from the tribe of Benjamin (1Ch.8.38; 9.44). His brothers were Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, and Hanan. The mention of Obadiah and his brothers in the genealogy of Saul emphasizes the importance of family records and the preservation of lineage, even for those who were not part of the royal line of David.
