How we know the date
ISBE reckons back from the fixed date of Samaria's fall and the Assyrian king-lists; Ussher reckons forward from the Bible's own numbers. From here on the timeline follows ISBE, which is the source that dates the later kings against Assyrian and Babylonian records. ISBE's Old Testament chronology (1915) gives 933 BC; Ussher's Annals (1650) gives 975 BC (its year of the world 3029 c). The sources differ by 42 years; the year shown (933 BC) is the one this timeline follows through this stretch, from ISBE (1915).
