About this place
Maacah (or Maacath) is the name of a region near Geshur, east of the Jordan River (Deu.3.14; Joshua 12:5; 13:11, 13). The Israelites allowed the Geshurites and Maacathites to remain in the land (Joshua 13:13). Maacah is also mentioned as one of the regions from which the Ammonites hired chariots and horsemen to fight against David (2Sa.10.6, 8; 1Ch.19.7). The Maacathite intermarried with the Judean family of Hodiah (1Ch.4.17-19)
