About this place
Lycaonia was a region in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey) mentioned in the New Testament. When Paul and Barnabas faced persecution in Iconium, they fled to the cities of Lycaonia, particularly Lystra and Derbe, where they continued to preach the gospel (Act.14.6). In Lystra, the people spoke the Lycaonian language (Act.14.11), indicating that Lycaonia had its own distinct culture and dialect.
