Jair was an Israelite who possessed towns in the region of Gilead, east of the Jordan River. According to Joshua 13:30, the towns of Jair were located in the territory allotted to the half-tribe of Manasseh. These towns, along with their villages, were sixty in number and were situated in the region of Argob in Bashan.
