About this place

Dimnah, also referred to as Rimmon or Rimmono, was a city allotted to the Levites within the territory of the tribe of Zebulun (Joshua 21:35; 1Ch.6.77). It was one of the cities given to the Merarite clan of the Levites for their dwelling (1Ch.6.77). The city is also mentioned in Joshua 19:13 as part of the border description of Zebulun's territory. The name "Rimmon" means "pomegranate," possibly indicating the presence of pomegranate trees in the area. The exact location of Dimnah/Rimmon/Rimmono is uncertain, but it was likely situated in the region of Galilee, within the allotted territory of Zebulun.
