Who he was
Shimei was a Levite who belonged to the family of Ladan, also known as Libni (1Ch. 6:42; 23:9). He lived during the reign of King David and is mentioned in the genealogies of the Levites. In 1 Chronicles 23:9, Shimei is listed along with his brothers Shelomoth and Haziel as heads of their fathers' households.
