יוֹנָתָן · yo.na.tan · H3129H“given of God” Hitchcock's 18691 mention, all in Ezra

Who he was

Jonathan was one of the descendants of Adaiah who returned to Jerusalem and Judah from Babylonian exile, as recorded in Ezra 8:6. He was part of the group that traveled with Ezra the scribe back to Jerusalem during the reign of King Artaxerxes of Persia, probably around 458 BC. The returning exiles sought to re-establish Jewish life and worship in the homeland after the Babylonian captivity.
