Who he was

Jachin, also known as Jarib, is mentioned in several genealogical lists in the Old Testament as a son of Simeon, the second son of Israel (or 'Jacob') and Leah. He is first mentioned in Genesis 46:10 and Exodus 6:15, where he is listed among the sons of Simeon who went down to Egypt with Jacob.

In Numbers 26:12, Jachin is identified as the founder of the Jachinites, one of the clans within the tribe of Simeon. This passage records the census taken by Moses and Eleazar in the plains of Moab, which lists the clans of each tribe according to their ancestors.

Jachin is also mentioned in 1 Chronicles 4:24 as part of the genealogy of the tribe of Simeon.
