חֵזִיר · che.zir · H2387H1 mention, all in Nehemiah
Who he was
Hezir is mentioned in Nehemiah 10:20 as one of the priests who sealed the covenant with Nehemiah and the people of Israel to follow the Law of God. This covenant was made after the completion of the wall of Jerusalem and the public reading of the Law. The priests, along with the Levites and leaders of the people, pledged to keep God's commandments, to avoid intermarriage with foreigners, and to support the temple and its services. Hezir's inclusion in this list indicates that he was a prominent priest during the time of Nehemiah and was committed to the spiritual renewal of the nation.
