Who he was

Hashum is mentioned as an ancestor of a group of exiles who returned to Jerusalem from Babylonian captivity. In the lists of returnees recorded in Ezra and Nehemiah, the descendants of Hashum are numbered at 223 (Ezra 2:19) and 328 (Nehemiah 7:22) respectively. Later, in the time of Ezra, some of the descendants of Hashum were found to have married foreign women and pledged to put them away (Ezra 10:33). No further information about Hashum is provided in the Bible. (Ezra 2:19; 10.33; Nehemiah 7:22).
