Who he was

Hananiah is named only in the lineage of Irijah, the captain of the guard at Benjamin's gate, “Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah,” who seized Jeremiah as he was leaving the city and accused him of defecting to the Chaldeans (Jeremiah 37:12–13).
