Who he was

Ginath is mentioned in 1 Kings 16:21–22 as the father of Tibni. After the death of King Elah of Israel, the people were divided into two factions. Half of the people followed Tibni, son of Ginath, to make him king, while the other half followed Omri. The supporters of Omri proved stronger than those of Tibni, and Tibni died, allowing Omri to become king.
