Who he was
Arah is named in the lists of those who returned from the Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:1–2), as the ancestor of one of the returning families: “The children of Arah, seven hundred seventy-five” (Ezra 2:5). Nehemiah's copy of the list gives six hundred fifty-two (Nehemiah 7:10).
