Amoz

אָמוֹץ · a.mots · H0531“strong; robust” Hitchcock's 186913 mentions in 3 books, most in Isaiah (7)

Who he was

Amoz was the father of the prophet Isaiah (Isa.1.1; 2.1). He lived during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah (Isaiah 1:1). Isaiah often mentions his father's name when introducing himself or his prophecies (Isa.2.1; 13.1; 20.2). Amoz was also mentioned in connection with the historical records of Uzziah's reign (2 Chronicles 26:22) and Hezekiah's reign (2 Chronicles 32:32). His name appears in the narrative of Hezekiah's illness and recovery, as Isaiah, the son of Amoz, was sent to deliver messages from God to the king (2Ki.19.2,20; 20.1; Isa.37.2,21; 38.1).
