ISBE 1915

From the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915). Where it reports or adopts critical theories, those are the views of its writers or the scholars they cite; Gospel Companion holds the historic Christian view of Scripture.

kar'-i-tez (kari) , ("one ready," "life-guardsman"): A body of troops mentioned in 2Ki 11:4,19 (the King James Version "captains"). Instead of CHERETHITES (which see), the Kethibh of 2Sa 20:23 offers the reading Carites.
